THE GLOBALISATION OF CERAMIC QUALITY

Congress opening panel debate

International leaders of the ceramic tile manufacturing industry will be debating business strategy in the ceramic sector, the situation of competitiveness in their different production zones, and the need for industrial policies that make industrial investment, employment, and economic growth feasible. The panel will also analyse the prospects for ceramic tiles with relation to alternative products and the areas in which greater innovation or radical changes are expected, in addition to comparing the current situation with the forecasts made at Qualicer 2014. As quality may be understood generally as the level at which customer demands are being satisfied, this session will also seek to identify new demands, resulting from globalisation, by tile manufacturers upon the other subsectors of the ceramic industry.

STANDARDS DRAFTING AND THE USE OF CERAMIC TILES IN CONSTRUCTION

The session will deal with the standards drafting process on an international level, the problems involved in getting the standards to reach the project and design specifications properly, and in getting them finally implemented in the building work, meeting the specifications and the client’s demands.

The session will also deal with the requirements identified in the panel debate on the globalisation of ceramic quality and the ceramic industry’s potential to meet these requirements.

The session seeks to identify managers’ key features, needs, and necessary experience. In addition, the actions that need to be taken in the education system and in companies to train managers and the infrastructures needed for international trade, the basis of their careers. The session’s point of reference will be the Castellon industrial cluster.
